Feb. 14--A man suspected of igniting a fire that damaged a Redlands business died Monday while in custody at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.

Keith Youngsma, 62, a transient, had been arrested Friday by Redlands police after he lit a bag of trash on fire in the alcove of a business doorway in the 100 block of State Street.

A street sweeper extinguished the blaze. The fire caused an estimated $7,000 damage to the property, said Redlands spokesman Carl Baker.

At 12:16 p.m. Monday, deputies found Youngsma unconscious in his cell at West Valley. Personnel performed CPR on the man and he was then taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fontana.

He was pronounced dead at 1:05 p.m., sheriff's officials said.

Officials say his death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
