A man participating in a firefighter candidate physical ability test had a heart attack and collapsed - but was saved by firefighter/paramedics on the scene.

It happened last week in Indian Head Park at the Chicago Roofers Apprentice Training Center.

The 46-year-old man's heart stopped halfway through the ability test. Lt. John Tabisz and firefighter/paramedic Jen Phillips of the Darien-Woodridge Fire District, along with three members of the Pleasantview Fire District, saved the man's life with CPR and by using a defibrillator.
