March 01--A man was injured on Route 50 Thursday morning when his car ran into the rear of a firetruck responding to a call near the Patuxent River, fire officials said.
Firefighters were called at 9 a.m. to assist a truck driver with a medical issue on eastbound Route 50.
As three firefighters from the West Annapolis station got back into their unit and the responding ambulance pulled away from the scene, a GMC SUV hit the side rear of the 2007 Emergency One Pumper truck.
The driver of the SUV had minor injuries and was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, as was the truck driver. His condition was more serious, fire officials said.
The firefighters were not injured. The pumper truck had to be towed from the scene.
