Four People Rescued From Mo. Apartment Fire

Firefighters rescued four people from a burning apartment building this morning in the Northeast area of Kansas City.

March 02--Firefighters rescued four people from a burning apartment building this morning in the Northeast area of Kansas City.

Two of the people were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Their conditions were not available.

The fire started shortly before 3 a.m. in a three-story apartment building in the 6400 block of Independence Avenue, according to Battalion Chief Lew Hendricks, a spokesman for the fire department.

The cause of the fire is being investigated. The extent of damages was not available but were believed to have been less than $15,000, Hendricks said.
