At least eight people were injured after a gas explosion Friday at a Chinese restaurant in St. Petersburg, Russia.

At least eight people were injured after a gas explosion Friday at a Chinese restaurant in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Crews responded to the blast and fire on the ground floor of a fire-story building that housed the restaurant, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the injured people were transported to local hospitals.

A total of 20 people were evacuated from the building.

The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.
