Two Pennsylvania Firefighters Injured in Floor Collapse

Two firefighters battling a blaze in Jeannette were injured early today when the floor collapsed beneath them. One had a strained neck and back and the other suffered minor hand burns.

March 05--Two firefighters battling a blaze in Jeannette were injured early today when the floor collapsed beneath them.

Captain Chuck Miller said the fire was reported just before midnight Sunday at a building that houses a union hall and an apartment near the intersection of Vine Street and Lowry Avenue. Two firefighters who entered the burning structure fell through the first floor, landing in the basement.

Firefighters were able to pull them out quickly. The firefighters who fell were transported to Westmoreland Hospital with minor injuries. One had a strained neck and back and the other suffered minor hand burns.

The fire was extinguished at around 2 a.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the state police fire marshal.
