Boston firefighters battled a fast-moving two-alarm brush fire that tore across the banks of the Muddy River Sunday afternoon.
The fire in the Fenway section of the city sent thick smoke into the sky and drew onlookers who observed crews douse the flames in about 30 minutes, according to The Boston Globe.
At least nine units responded to the blaze around 3 p.m. that started behind the department's 911 call center and spread to the Boylston Street Bridge.
"This thing engulfed the whole (area) in minutes," department spokesman Steve MacDonald told the newspaper.
The wind quickly spread the fire to both sides of the river and charred branches and trunks were left in its path.
No one was injured in the fire and the cause is still under investigation.
