GOODLAND, Fla. - Police have identified the victim of Saturday's fatal motorcycle crash in Goodland as Gerard A. Loffredo, 48, of Marco Island.
A motorcycle collided with a city fire-rescue vehicle near Marco Island on Saturday afternoon, leaving one dead.
Collier County sheriff's deputies, along with Marco Island police officers, responded just before 3 p.m. to the crash involving a Marco fire-rescue vehicle, a Ford Explorer, and a motorcycle at Goodland Drive and San Marcos Road, north of Goodland and east of Marco island.
Traffic into and out of Goodland was backed up for part of the afternoon and was restricted to one lane.
Marco Island police official David Baer said all aspects of the crash are under investigation.
Marco Island police officers were investigating the accident but no further information was available from the department as of Saturday night. The Sheriff's Office also was investigating, but also couldn't provide any further information Saturday night.
