Two Missouri Firefighters Hurt in House Fire

One suffered a knee injury when a basement trap door gave way under him while fighting the fire in Kansas City. Another firefighter suffered a back injury while assisting that firefighter.

March 12--Two firefighters were injured this morning while fighting a house fire in Kansas City, Kan.

One suffered a knee injury when a basement trap door gave way under him while fighting the fire in the 3000 block of North 43rd Street. Another firefighter suffered a back injury while assisting that firefighter. Both were taken to the hospital for evaluation, officials said.

The fire was reported about 9:45 a.m. Monday. The occupants got out before firefighters arrived. The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.

The cause is still under investigation.
