Two New York Firefighters Hurt in House Fire

The Suffolk Police arson squad is investigating a North Bay Shore house fire that injured two firefighters and destroyed a house early Sunday morning.

March 18--The Suffolk Police arson squad is investigating a North Bay Shore house fire that injured two firefighters and destroyed a house early Sunday morning.

The fire, in the 1100 block of Brookdale Avenue, fully engulfed the home, a police spokeswoman said. A boat next to the house was also destroyed.

The injured firefighters were treated and released from Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, the spokeswoman said. The names of the firefighters, who are members of the Brentwood Fire Department, were not available.

One firefighter suffered exhaustion and the other had minor burns, the spokeswoman said.

None of the home's occupants was injured, she said

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
