March 20--An off-duty Kansas City firefighter suffered injuries that appeared to be minor when he was stabbed early this morning in south Kansas City.
Police responded to a disturbance call in the 200 block of West 83rd Terrace shortly after 5 a.m. The disturbance soon was upgraded to a cutting, said police Capt. Steve Young.
The victim was treated and released, Young said.
No suspect was in custody.
Firefighters had responded to a call at that same address at about 9:45 p.m. Monday, said Kansas City Fire Department spokesman Lew Hendricks. The fire, considered small, caused about $2,500 in damages, mostly to the contents of the residence, said Hendricks.
It wasn't clear whether the fire and the stabbing were related, he added.
"Both of these situations remain under investigation," Hendricks said.
