Two former members of the Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department in Guadalupe County were among three suspects charged with arson over a brush fire in New Braunfels late last spring that threatened a subdivision, authorities said Tuesday.

New Braunfels Fire Marshal Patrick O'Connell said Tuesday that Dustin J. Ronhausen, 23, of New Braunfels and David P. Puckett Jr., 21, of Seguin were dismissed from the volunteer agency after being linked to the June 18 fire.

The pair were arrested Monday along with Terrell E. Garrett Jr., 18, of Seguin, O'Connell said. Each was booked into the Guadalupe County Jail on a charge of second-degree felony arson.

He said investigators believe it was ignited with fireworks, but no motive has been established.

Near the start of a wildfire season that set records for losses statewide, the blaze was a small one. It consumed about 15 acres near the Avery Park subdivision off Texas 46.
