March 31--A Lynchburg man was hospitalized with critical injuries after he was trapped between a vehicle and a house Friday afternoon, police said.
Michael Robert Burks, 30, of Lynchburg was originally transported to Lynchburg General Hospital by Lynchburg Fire & EMS crews, but he was later flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center, said Officer Ronnie Sitler.
Sitler said Lara I. Ware, 57, of Lynchburg, was turning into the driveway at 1755 Miller Drive, off of Langhorne Road, when she said she accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake.
Ware's 2002 Ford Explorer pinned Burks to the house, and damaged the foundation at the front right corner of the house.
Officials deemed the house unfit for residency and placed a notice on the front door.
Police did not say whether any charges are expected in the case.
Anyone with information regarding the wreck is asked to contact the Lynchburg Police Department's traffic unit at 455-6047 or Central Virginia Crime Stoppers at (888) 798-5900.
