INDIANAPOLIS -- Firefighters battled two house fires within a block of each other on Indianapolis' northwest side early Wednesday.
Crews were called to a home at 1119 W. 35th St. just after 3:30 a.m., where they found heavy fire and smoke showing.
Two people inside the home evacuated safely, and the blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes.
As firefighters were putting out hotspots just after 4 a.m., they were alerted to a second fire several houses down at 1038 W. 35th St.
They arrived to find the home engulfed by flames. The blaze took 40 minutes to get under control.
No one was injured, but the house was completely destroyed.
Fire investigators said it was not clear if the two blazes were connected.
