DICKINSON (AP) - Crews have contained a grass fire in the western North Dakota Badlands that burned about 11/2 square miles and caused minor injuries to a Billings County firefighter. Chief Deputy Pat Rummel said the Sunday fire started near an oil well site but the cause was not immediately determined.
About 100 people from several agencies fought the blaze that was visible from the Painted Canyon Overlook. It took them about 4 1/2 hours to contain it.
No buildings burned. The firefighter who suffered minor burns to his hands and face was treated at the scene by paramedics.
