Small Earthquake Rattles California Fire Station

An earthquake hit Shafter Monday night, rattling the Kern County Fire Station.

SHAFTER, Calif. -- A small earthquake hit Shafter Monday night, rattling the Kern County Fire Station.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 3.5 magnitude quake struck just after 5 p.m.

The quake was reportedly centered four miles west of Shafter.

Firefighters said they could feel the walls shake a bit, and the front door rattled.

As a precaution, firefighters took their trucks and gear outside.

Few others reported that they felt the earthquake.
