A sow and 10 piglets died in a hog farm fire at 651 Pine Road, East Hanover Township, early Saturday.

There were no injuries to firefighters during the two-alarm blaze, Ono Fire Chief Roger Funck said.

"It was confined to two rooms and part of a hallway," Funck said. "It definitely could have been a lot worse."

The barn was about 75 feet by 350 feet long.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the fire was probably caused by an electrical malfunction, Funck said. He estimated damage between $75,000 to $100,000.

Units were dispatched at 5:49 a.m. and were on the scene about three hours. Assisting Ono were Palmyra Citizens, Jonestown Perseverance, Bellegrove, Annville Union Hose, Union Water Works, Lickdale and Campbelltown fire companies and Life Lion ambulance.
