Chicago firefighters Wednesday morning scrambled to the scene of a dozen separate dumpster fires in the North Center and Lakeview neighborhoods on the North Side.
No injuries were reported in any of the fires that occurred across the two neighborhoods between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 2:53 a.m. today, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
Several of the fires were within a block or two of one another. A fire department spokesman said it appeared that someone had lit the fires, but wouldn't call the fires arson, saying the department's office of fire investigation was probing the matter.
A police spokesman said he'd been informed of just one fire in the 4000 block of North Damen shortly before 3 a.m., but couldn't say whether Bomb and Arson detectives were also investigating the fires.
