A blaze on Prescott's Whiskey Row tore through three businesses Tuesday and kept firefighters busy for hours.
The Bird Cage Saloon, Larry & Hy's Bare Bones BBQ and Prescott Food Store were housed in a structure built after most of the city's downtown was destroyed by a fire on July 14, 1900, according to The Kingman Daily Miner.
The fire at the Bird Cage Saloon was reported around 6:15 p.m. and police blocked off Montezuma Street as firefighters attempt to knock down the flames.
In all, nine engine companies from Prescott, Central Yavapai and Chino Valley fire districts responded to the blaze.
Occupants inside neighboring buildings were evacuated and no firefighters were injured battling the flames.
Officials were initially concerned the fire might breach the firewalls because the fire had been burning so long, but they held and firefighters were able to contain the damage to the three businesses.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
