Fort Worth police are investigating a reported "rolling altercation" between vehicles that led to gunshots and damage outside a Stop Six neighborhood fire station Thursday night.

A fire engine returning from a call to Fire Station 3, 4700 Ramey Avenue, about 9:15 p.m. found a small crowd of people in the station's yard, said fire department spokesman Tim Hardeman.

Firefighters also realized the station's flag pole had been knocked over, he said.

Witnesses told firefighters that the occupants of two vehicles appeared to be involved in a rolling altercation and that one vehicle had forced the other into the station's yard, where it struck the flag pole, he said.

Witnesses also said they heard gunshots, but it wasn't clear who fired them.

The vehicles sped away, the witnesses said.

Engine 3's crew reported that they could not find any damage to the fire station, but planned to check again Friday morning, Hardeman said.

No damage estimate to the flagpole was available.
