An 84-year-old Marysville woman was pulled from a burning building by her neighbors, a CalFire spokesman said Saturday.

The woman suffered severe burns and was taken to U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.

Her name and condition were unavailable Saturday.

The fire was reported at about 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Buchanan Street, said CalFire Capt. Dennis Hunt.

"The fire itself was in the front room of the house," Hunt said. "Through the fire and smoke, (the neighbors) were able to get her out. They used a garden hose to start putting it out."

The fire was in a day bed or couch and was electrical in nature, Hunt said.

"Through our investigation, we deemed it to be something with a window-mounted air-conditioning unit, and it was plugged into some type of extension cord," he said.

The house is about 1,000 square feet, Hunt said. The woman's son had been in the house and then left before the blaze started, he said. She was alone.

The woman "appeared to have severe burn injuries," Hunt said, but "she was coherent the whole way to the hospital."
