Sprinkler System Tames Florida Hotel Blaze

A three-alarm fire at a downtown Tampa hotel brought out firefighters but was extinguished by the building's sprinkler system Friday.

Aug. 18--TAMPA -- A three-alarm fire at a downtown hotel brought out firefighters but was extinguished by the building's sprinkler system Friday.

The Courtyard Tampa Downtown, a Marriott hotel at 102 E. Cass St., was evacuated after the fire was reported in a sixth-floor room just after 2 p.m., Tampa Fire Rescue said.

There were no reported injuries.

The fire was caused by an electrical failure, Tampa Fire Rescue officials said.
