The Ramsey fire in the Stanislaus National Forest was 95 percent contained as of 6 p.m. Sunday, and firefighters are expected to spend this week mopping up and putting out hot spots.

The fire, which is about eight miles east of Dorrington along Highway 4 in Calaveras County, had burned 1,137 acres. No structures were destroyed, but six firefighters were hurt, all with minor injuries, except one with a moderate injury. The injuries primarily were from bee stings.

Fire officials said traffic controls have been lifted along Highway 4, but they warned motorists to drive with caution because of the large number of firefighters and equipment still at the scene.

As many as 500 firefighters fought the blaze, including firefighters from a Stanislaus County strike team. The blaze was started by a campfire.
