Dec. 18--YAKIMA, Wash. -- An unusual sledding accident on Monday night left three teenagers hurt, West Valley firefighters say.
A group of seven to nine teens was using a boat to sled down Ahtanum Ridge in the area of South Ahtanum Road when the marine vessel took an unexpected turn and hit a car about 8 p.m., said Capt. Christy Boisselle of the West Valley Fire Department.
"I think they were having a blast until they hit the car," Boisselle said.
The injured trio was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. No information was available about the extent of the patients' injuries, but Boisselle said all were expected to survive.
