Okla. Firefighter's Truck Stolen While on Call

Comanche County authorities are searching for a vehicle stolen from a volunteer firefighter while he was out responding to an emergency call.

Comanche County authorities are searching for a vehicle stolen from a volunteer firefighter Thursday while he was out responding to an emergency call.

According to a Comanche County Sheriff's Office report, the 24-year-old crew member at Paradise Valley Volunteer Fire Department drove to the station, 6851 NW Meers-Porter Hill, around 7 p.m. Thursday after receiving an emergency page.

After about 30 minutes, the firefighters returned to the station and the victim's 2003 maroon Chevrolet Z-71 pickup - valued at $19,000 - was missing.

Comanche County Sheriff's Deputy Ronnie Smith was dispatched to the department around 8 p.m., and according to the report the victim told Smith there was an inoperable .22 pistol inside the truck, a chainsaw in the bed and a spotting scope in the backseat.

The keys had also been left inside the vehicle.

Dispatchers broadcast "be on the lookout" messages Friday morning, as the vehicle still had not been found.

The report said no suspect information was available.
