Jan. 30--A Detroit firefighter suffered neck and shoulder injuries this morning when a ceiling collapsed, according to the department.

The firefighter was fighting a blaze in a commercial building at about 6 a.m. when a piece of ceiling fell and hit him in the head, Detroit Fire Senior Chief Lewis Roelans said.

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of the non-life threatening injury, the chief said.
