Feb. 11--NORFOLK -- One person was taken to a hospital and 12 people were displaced this morning by a house fire in the 1400 block of W. 27th St.
The fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. and when firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames at the home, said Battalion Chief Julian Williamson.
The blaze was under control in about 20 minutes.
The person taken to the hospital suffered smoke inhalation, according to Williamson. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation. It was believed to have started on the first floor of the home.
The people displaced included five adults and seven children ages 16 and under.
