GLENARDEN, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man and two children have died after an early morning house fire in Glenarden.

Mark Brady, spokesman for Prince George's County Fire and Rescue, says four victims were rescued from a burning single-story home in the 8600 block of Leslie Avenue after becoming trapped by flames around 4:00 Thursday morning. Volunteer firefighters from Kentland Station 833 were the first crews on scene where they found heavy smoke and fire showing from the brick home.

Firefighters searched the burning home and removed a man and 3 girls, ages 5, 8, and 10. According to a Tweet from Fire Chief Marc Bashoor, CPR had to be performed on the four victims at the scene. Brady now confirms of those four victims, two children and one adult have been pronounced dead at the hospital. A pulse has been restored on the third child who is being transported to a medical facility that specializes in treating children. We are told that the child is in very critical condition.

Two other occupants, a woman and an 8 year old child, escaped the flames before firefighters arrived. They sustained less serious injuries and have been transported to area hospitals.

Firefighters brought the flames under control within 30 minutes. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
