March 17--Bradenton firefighters rescued a small dog from a house fire this afternoon, the City of Bradenton Fire Department said.
Crews went to 1615 18th Ave. W. at 1:09 p.m. and found a single-family, one-story residence with thick smoke exiting from the front door and chimney.
After being told by a neighbor a pet was inside the residence, firefighters went inside and found a dog in the master bedroom. The animal was taken outside, where fire and EMS crews administered oxygen.
Manatee County Animal Services responded and transported the dog to an animal clinic for further treatment.
The fire was extinguished in about 10 minutes. There were no reported injuries. Damage is estimated at $25,000.
The family affected is being assisted by the Red Cross, the fire department said.
