April 01--DOVER- In January, Dover Fire and Rescue Lt. Michael McShane spent a week away from familiar firefighting apparatus and the equipment he's normally surrounded by on the job, and was featured on a reality show, Brotherhood Outdoors.
It was his time spent and character built through much of what he does as a firefighter, and also as a member of the Union Sportsmen's Alliance, that helped earn him the opportunity to be treated to a weeklong bow hunting trip in Arizona.
He explained that the show chooses someone who is a union member and takes them out on a hunting and fishing trip.
Presented by Bank of Labor, Brotherhood Outdoors, which airs exclusively on the Sportsman Channel, is a unique series of the Union Sportsmen's Alliance that celebrates hardworking union sportsmen and women as they join co-hosts Daniel Lee Martin and Julie McQueen for hunting and fishing adventures across North America or act as the guide.
The application process for the show was a lengthy one, he said, and he answered all kinds of questions about himself, what he does as part of his union and what they do for the community.
