Grand Jury Clears Man Accused of Attacking Texas Firefighters
June 03--GREENVILLE -- A West Tawakoni man, accused of attacking firefighters trying to save his house last fall, has been cleared by the Hunt County grand jury.
William Alton Easterling, 70, was arrested and charged in November on two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.
But the grand jury issued "no bills" Friday on both charges, which indicated the panel had determined its investigation did not find sufficient evidence to issue any indictments in the case.
Easterling was taken into custody after he allegedly attacked personnel responding to a fire at his residence.
Firefighters responded on the night of Nov. 24, 2012 to a call of a structure fire at Easterling's home on Ideal Circle in West Tawakoni. Easterling was accused of attempting to run over the fire personnel working to bring the fire under control.
