June 20--One person was killed and another severely injured in an early-morning collision Thursday in Poway between a Honda and a fire engine, authorities said.

The collision occurred at an intersection about 4 a.m. as the fire truck was responding to a medical emergency call in the northern San Diego County suburb.

A female passenger in the Honda was killed and the male driver was injured and taken to a hospital. No firefighters were hurt.
