A firefighter from Lee County was flown to the hospital after the pumper he was driving crashed Monday.
The crash on Highway 2017, which happened around 12:30 p.m., left the apparatus on the driver's side
"It was just so loud that you probably could've heard it for half a mile," neighbor Ruby McIntosh told Lex18.com. "I knew, when I heard the racket, that he'd wrecked."
Grabbing the fire apparatus radio, McIntosh called for help for firefighter Kyle Cook, 22. He was alone in the rig.
"He wasn't worried about himself. He was worried more about the truck."
Officials told Lex18.com that Cook was in fair condition at UK Hospital.
