Aug. 15--A woman rescued from a Chesterfield County house fire has been hospitalized, but her injuries are no longer believed to be life-threatening.

Chesterfield Fire & EMS Lt. Jason Elmore said the woman was taken to Chippenham Hospital after Wednesday night's fire with injuries that were originally believed to be life-threatening, but authorities later said she was in critical but stable condition.

Firefighters were summoned about 5:20 p.m. to the home in the 13900 block of North Point Road, just south of Swift Creek Reservoir in Midlothian, and had the fire under control by 5:47 p.m., Elmore said.

The flames were contained to a family room in the home but there was smoke damage throughout, Elmore said.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
