Sept. 18--Students from a leadership class at Foothill Middle School in Walnut Creek decided to show their appreciation for some local firefighters recently.

Contra Costa Fire Station 7, at 1050 Walnut Blvd., was broken into Sept. 8 as firefighters stationed there were battling the big Morgan Fire on Mt. Diablo. The thief made off with several items, including iPads, wedding bands and money, officials said.

After students at Foothill Middle School heard of this they decided to make some cookies, signs and cards for the hardworking firefighters, according to news reports. Students delivered their goods in person to the firehouse last week.
