A massive search is underway.

Oct. 07--LAKE ARROWHEAD -- Authorities had no new information as of late Sunday afternoon about hiker missing nearly a week.

"As far as I know, approximately 50 search-and-rescue personnel, dogs and the sheriff's helicopter were searching again today," sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Bachman said in an email. "They had All Terrain Vehicles yesterday and today."

Alyof Krost, 62, was reported missing Tuesday afternoon after hiking with a group of 20 people and two guides on the Pinnacle Trail at Lake Arrowhead.

Krost grew fatigued and stopped to rest, authorities said.

A guide who wasn't feeling well stayed behind with Krost.

Krost regained enough energy to resume the hike, leaving the ill guide behind, authorities said.

Krost only had one bottle of water with him.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Krost is asked to contact the sheriff's Twin Peaks station at 909-336-0600 or sheriff's dispatch at 909-387-8313.
