Baltimore Cop Kills City Firefighter, Woman, Self
Oct. 27--A Baltimore City police officer shot and killed a city firefighter and his girlfriend in Glen Burnie early Sunday morning before turning the gun on himself, Anne Arundel County police said.
Police were called to the 1100 block of Armistead Street at about 1:35 a.m. for a report of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found Baltimore firefighter Andrew Scott Hoffman, 27, girlfriend Marie Leanne Edith Hartman, 26, and Baltimore police officer Christopher Lee Robinson, 37, suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed Robinson had a previous relationship with Hartman, police said. Further information on the circumstances that led to the shooting was not available Sunday morning, police Lt. T.J. Smith said.
News of the shooting shocked Hoffman's best friend and neighbors on the quiet street in the Arundel Hills community, just south of the Baltimore beltway.
"He's a great guy," said Fred Scheper, 29, who has been friends with Hoffman for 23 years. "He saved people's lives every day. He was the happiest I've ever seen him in his life the last two months with the new girlfriend."
"It's so tragic," he added. "I don't even have any words."
