Man Arrested in Bombing of Ore. DA's Office

Nov. 21--Medford police arrested 46-year-old Alan Leroy McVay in the Nov. 13 explosion of a bomb outside the Jackson County District Attorney's Office in Medford.

McVay is set to be arraigned this afternoon in Jackson County District Court on charges of first-degree arson, first-degree burglary, unlawful possession of a destructive device, unlawful manufacturing of an explosive device and first-degree criminal mischief.

Police said they identified him as a possible suspect within days and arrested him Wednesday at Bobbio's Pizza in White City. he is being held in jail on $1 million bail.

McVay has an extensive criminal history in Jackson County, with arrests and convictions for drug possessions, burglaries, thefts and aggravated thefts, according to court records.

McVay was indicted in April 2012 on a charge of first-degree burglary stemming from a case in which 30 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition were reported stolen from a home in west Medford the previous October. The investigation led police to a local mini-storage facility, where they recovered the stolen guns and ammo.
