Dec. 20--CHARLESTOWN -- Four people were taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation after their mobile home was destroyed by a fire this morning.
At about 1:50 a.m., when firefighters arrived at Morways Mobile Home Park, the front of the mobile home was fully involved and flames were coming through the roof, Charlestown Fire Chief Charlie Baraly said.
The home is owned by Wayne Simoneaw. He, his wife and two adult children were living in the mobile home with a dog and a hamster.
Everyone was able to make it out safely, Baraly said. The four people were taken to Springfield (Vt.) Hospital to be treated.
The mobile home was engulfed in flames before firefighters got the blaze under control about 45 minutes after arriving, he said. Mobile homes on both sides of the Simoneaw home had minor damage to vinyl siding.
The fire isn't considered suspicious, but the cause is still under investigation, he said.
The Red Cross has been notified and is working to get in touch with the family, Baraly said.
