LEXANDRIA, Va. (WUSA9) -- Authorities say they have arrested a 74-year-old woman in connection with a series of arsons at an apartment complex in the Alexandria area.

According to law enforcement officials, The Alexandria Fire Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) executed arrest and search warrants earlier this week in relation to a suspected serial arsonist.

They say the suspect, 74-year-old Shirley Ann Vigneua, is a resident of a building in the Southern Towers complex in the 4900 block of Seminary Road.
Officials tell us that Vigneau was caught on camera in the vicinity of the most recent fire around the time it was ignited.

Authorities say the AFD and ATF have been investigating more than two dozen fires at the complex over the course of 10 months.

Vigneau is under investigation in connection with the suspected arson-related fires, which did not injure anyone but did result in approximately $50,000 in fire and smoke damage.

Vigneau was questioned and then taken to the Alexandria Sheriff's Office Detention Center on Wednesday.
