May 17--Occupants of a two-story brick home escaped fire and injuries about 8:14 a.m. today but a St. Louis firefighter wasn't so lucky.

While firefighters were battling the blaze in the 5800 block of Saloma Street, one firefighter suffered burns to his neck, said St. Louis Fire Capt. Garon Mosby. The firefighter was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transported to an area hospital. He was listed in stable condition.

The occupants of the house escaped the flames and were outside by the time firefighters arrived.

The cause of the fire is not known.
