Firehouse World 2015 Brings New Sessions, Names to San Diego

Nov. 5, 2014
Firehouse World 2015 will be held Jan. 25-29, and includes hands-on training, pre-conference sessions, an exhibit floor and more.

Firehouse World returns to San Diego in 2015, but this year it's a few weeks earlier than normal. So update your calendar as you prepare to join thousands of firefighters from Jan. 25-29 for training, education and product famaliarization.

"It's no secret that the fire service is changing and we're excited to say that Firehouse World is changing too," said Firehouse Editor-in-Chief Timothy Sendelbach. "This year's program features over 120 programs being presented by some of the most well-known and experienced instructors in the country."

They include strategy and tactics for urban, rural and wildland incidents, leadership programs for future and veteran fire officers, .

"After Firehouse World 2014, many of you were asked how we could improve the conference.  An overwhelming number of you said, bring back hands-on training. I'm proud to say, you spoke and Firehouse listened" said Sendelbach. "This year, with the help of the Northern and Southern Training Officers Association, attendees will be offered the opportunity to choose from eight hands-on training programs, three of which will include live fire."

Tim Sandifer will lead "Modern Fire Behavior (MFB)/Understanding Flow Path," explains the physics of fire, flow path, air track and other crucial findings from recent studies.

"Modern Fireground Operations," is another live fire class, but it focuses on engine company operations.

This year we will be offering moderated sessions on the exhibit floor to discuss some of the hottest topics in the fire service. Retired FDNY Battalion Chief John Salka and Los Angeles County Battalion Chief Derek Alkonis will be discussing the application of research on the modern fireground and the evolution of fireground survival training.

"This is a no holds-barred, interactive session that will provide attendees a great opportunity to ask questions and to learn first hand from two accomplished fire service veterans."

Alkonis will be providing the opening keynote address, "Change is in the Wind," on Tuesday morning.

"As we begin the process of transitioning Firehouse World to be a global, worldwide conference and exposition, we've take the first step by offering a Bomberos Academy."

The Bomberos Academy begins with two days of hands-on training, followed by five main conference sessions, with all of them being delivered in Spanish. Find the full schedule here.

"At Firehouse we recognize that the lessons to be learned and shared go far beyond our boarders, and we look forward to the opportunity to work with our international guests and contributors."

This year, the exhibit floor will be open Tuesday and Wednesday (Jan. 27-28). You can view the current list of exhibitors here.

Early registation deals end Jan. 6.
