Crew, Patient Escape Burning Ambulance in San Diego

The crew heard a boom and when they pulled over, the engine was on fire.

An AMR ambulance transporting a patient caught fire in San Diego Wednesday.

The two EMTs heard a loud boom from the hood and when they pulled over they found the engine area on fire, Fox5SanDiego.com reports.

The EMTs evacuated the patient, who was picked up 25 minutes later by another ambulance. 

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews knocked down the fire, which destroyed the vehicle.
