Two San Diego firefighters were hurt when a brush truck overturned during a training exercise in Otay Mesa, near the border with Mexico, Tuesday morning.
According to the newspaper, The San Diego Union-Tribune, one of the brush truck's front tires slipped off the dirt road and overturned twice as it rolled down a hill side.
The firefighters suffered minor to moderate injuries and exited the overturned rig on their own, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department's spokesman lee Swanson told the newspaper.
According to television station 7NBC San Diego News, the firefighters were airlifted from the scene for treatment. News reports that one was expected to be released after treatment and the second one was expected to be held for observations. Neither firefighter was identified.
The newspaper reported a large tow truck and a bulldozer were summoned to the scene to recover the fire truck. California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
