A section of a Weirton firehouse collapsed after a fire truck backed into a wall Sunday evening.
The apparatus struck the middle wall of the building and collapsed the facade at Weirton Fire Station 3 on Pennsylvania Avenue around 7 p.m.
"Just had to come up and see what the damage was. The first thing I asked was anyone hurt. Nobody hurt, and then we go from there,” Fire Chief Jerry Shumate told WTOV.
One pumper suffered body damage when the facade collapsed.
Fire officials said two fire trucks in the station were not damaged.
Shumate said the apparatus will be stored outside the station and assured residents that service will not be disrupted.
Workers were on scene late Sunday night removing the debris.
