A McKenney firefighter and a local deputy suffered minor injuries along an interstate when a rig veered into a fire truck.

The cab of the 2002 Pierce Quantum was ripped off the chassis, and the deputy's vehicle was heavily damaged.

Engine 3 from McKenney Vol. Fire/Rescue was blocking a crash scene on I-85 to protect medics when it was hit by the tractor-trailer.

The truck driver was flown to a trauma center for treatment after the 2 a.m. crash.

The interstate was closed for several hours to clean up the debris.
