A Miami firefighter behind the wheel of an ambulance that collided with a fire truck in August will be suspended for 96 hours.

Gustavo Alzate, a firefighter for a little over two years, will be suspended later this month for the Aug. 11 wreck that left 12 people injured.

A traffic camera showed the ambulance ran a red light before crashing into the fire engine as both were headed to emergencies, Local 10 reported Tuesday afternoon.

The engine overturned upon impact.

Seven firefighters, who were aboard both emergency vehicles, a grandmother and two children in the ambulance were injured as well as two people in a car.

"On Aug. 11, 2015, you engaged in a grossly negligent and unsafe act when you without regard to safety or prudence violated traffic laws by failing to properly yield at a red stop signal and consequently endangered the lives of citizens and firefighters," Chief Maurice Kemp wrote in a letter to Alzate.
