Mich. Firefighters OK After Engine Crash

The Battle Creek firefighters were responding to a fire when the rig skidded on an icy road.

Four Battle Creek firefighters sustained minor injuries Sunday when their fire truck overturned on an icy highway.

The crew was en route to a fire when the crash occurred. They were trapped briefly, WOODTV reported.

Chief David Schmaltz said in a release that the firefighters suffered scrapes and bruises, and were transported to the hospital to be checked out.

The engine sustained serious damage. No other vehicles were involved.
