Fire boats were used to supply water to land-based crews battling a four-alarm fire a Portland Marina late Sunday.
Portland Fire & Rescue crews were called to the Sundance Marina on NE Tomahawk Island Dr. at 10:30 p.m. Officials said the dry dock facility had 350 boats stacked in storage.
Command quickly requested second and third alarm resources due to heavy fire conditions and a defensive attack was used, PR&R officials said in a press release.
The structure was located at the end of a small island and, so the water supply from hydrants was inadequate.
Three fire boats were called to supply water to units and one boat was used for suppression.
Crews were able to assist the business owner with removing files from the office area.
Sections of the building buckled and collapsed as the fire burned overnight.
The fire reached four alarms bringing 100 firefighters from Portland and Vancouver.
