Police arrested two men after they stole a fire apparatus and drove it into cars and homes in Northern Ireland early Saturday.
The men, ages 19 and 66, broke into the Larne Fire Station around 4 a.m.
"Subsequently this fire engine was driven into a number of cars and houses in the Larne area," Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue service Group Commander Kevin O’Neill told The Guardian.
The path of destruction was less than a half-mile, but it left one car on its roof and damaged a half dozen others. The apparatus came to a stop after driving through several yards before crashing into a wall.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland took the men into custody and one suffered minor injuries, according to BBC.com.
The fire station was also damaged in the robbery.
"Unbelievable carnage that could have resulted in loss of life or serious injury," Assistant Chief Fire Officer Alan Walmsley said in a tweet where he showed photos of the extensive damage. "The consequences of last nights mindless actions, Larne Fire Station now unusable and fire appliance unrepairable."
